For those entering the job market right now, artificial intelligence is already part of the starting point. The current generation learns, codes, researches and builds projects in a context where these tools have been available from the very beginning. They therefore start their careers discovering how to combine their own knowledge with AI to develop better solutions.
It is for this new reality that the Nubank Brazil 2027 Internship Program was designed. Aligned with Nubank’s AI-first strategy, the program seeks to identify and develop early-career talent that not only knows how to use AI, but also how to ask good questions, understand problems, evaluate answers, recognize limitations and decide when to trust or question what the technology suggests.
This edition was built around a profile we call AI-native and offers approximately 50 openings and an 18-month development experience.
So what does it mean to be AI-native?
Being AI-native does not simply mean knowing how to use ChatGPT, Claude, Copilot or any other tool. For Nubank, the concept relates to how artificial intelligence becomes part of the way you think, learn and build.
In practice, this means being able to start from a problem, investigate its causes, formulate good questions and identify where AI can help find a solution. It also involves critically assessing what the technology produces, recognizing its limitations and exercising your own judgment about which path to take.
This relationship with AI can also be built even before entering the job market. Personal projects, automations, agents, applications and other hands-on experiences can show how someone already uses technology to turn an idea or a problem into something concrete.
Ultimately, being AI-native means knowing how to work with artificial intelligence without handing over to it the responsibility for your own reasoning. You need to know when to use it, how to evaluate what it offers and when to question its answers.

Curiosity is also built outside the classroom
Beyond AI fluency, we look for people driven by curiosity and a desire to learn. People who do not wait for a problem to appear before they start exploring it, and who find ways to turn what they learn into something concrete.
This can show up in many ways: in a personal project or an automation created to solve a problem; in taking part in hackathons, student communities or open source projects; in programming competitions, academic olympiads, research, teaching assistantships or mentoring.
None of these experiences is mandatory on its own. What they can reveal is initiative, the ability to learn independently and a willingness to tackle hard problems.
To take part in the selection process, you must be enrolled in an undergraduate course, have advanced English (written and spoken) and be available for the full 18 months of the program.
A selection process that also considers how you work with AI
The selection process was designed to observe different dimensions of each candidate. After the application and the basic eligibility check, the process includes assessments related to quantitative reasoning, problem decomposition and programming. There are also live stages, with a case challenge, a conversation with a Nubank leader and a final interview with the People and Culture team.
The way each person works with artificial intelligence is also part of this assessment. If these tools are already part of real work, we want to understand how candidates incorporate them into their own reasoning process.
In the live case challenge, for example, the use of AI tools is encouraged. The intention is to observe how each person frames an ambiguous problem, structures their reasoning, uses the technology, weighs trade-offs and exercises their own judgment.
In the conversation with a Nubank leader, there is room to explore in depth what the candidate has already built with AI, understanding where the technology helped, which limitations appeared and at which moments it was necessary to question its answer or choose another path. The interview with the People and Culture team complements this assessment, also considering the connection with Nubank’s culture and values.
Throughout these stages, we seek to understand not only each person’s technical repertoire, but also how they think, build, make decisions and connect with Nubank’s way of working.
Learning while working on real problems
Artificial intelligence is the common starting point for everyone applying to the 2027 Internship Program. The area of work is defined later, considering each person’s profile and Nubank’s needs.
In practice, this means the possibility of working in teams with high AI maturity and facing different types of challenge throughout the program. In credit and operations, for example, this may involve the models and systems behind how Nubank assesses and offers credit to millions of people. In credit and card products, it may mean building and optimizing financial experiences used by tens of millions of customers.
There are also infrastructure and platform challenges, involving the systems that allow Nubank to operate at scale, with reliability and speed. In other contexts, the experience may involve more ambiguous business problems, in which AI helps explore possibilities, test hypotheses and build solutions.
During the 18 months of the internship, participants will have on-the-job development, technical mentoring from a senior member of the Software Engineering or Machine Learning team, who may be anywhere in the world, from Brazil to Silicon Valley, group learning sessions and periodic performance checkpoints.
A new generation of talent for a new way of working
The artificial intelligence tools we use today will change. New models and new ways of building products, analyzing data and solving problems will keep emerging.
That is why developing AI-native professionals means developing people who combine solid fundamentals and critical thinking with the ability to use AI to expand the way they analyze problems and build solutions.
That is the purpose of the Nubank Brazil 2027 Internship Program: to find students who are at the beginning of their careers, but who already show curiosity to ask good questions, initiative to turn ideas into projects and the judgment to understand that an answer produced by AI may be the beginning of a solution, and not necessarily the end of it.
Nubank Brazil 2027 Internship Program: how to apply

Eligibility: To take part, you must be actively enrolled in a higher education course (bachelor’s, teaching degree or technologist) at a Brazilian university, with no restriction on field of study, with expected graduation between July 2028 and July 2029, advanced English, and live in the cities or metropolitan regions of São Paulo, Campinas, Rio de Janeiro and Belo Horizonte, with availability to intern 30 hours per week under Nubank’s hybrid model (3 days per week in the office) starting in January 2027.
